April Snow Showers bring May Silk Wedding Flowers!

May is always a popular month to get married. Things feel fresh and bright and it's the start of something new. There are tons of color options for May silk wedding flowers and really anything goes! From the pinks and purples, to coral and red (check back next week to see that lovely color combo), to a classic blue and white like Mary and Jason's flowers.

As a friend of the bride and groom, it was fun to talk with them about their long anticipated wedding.  Having been together for over a decade, they were more than ready to make their plans become a reality. Mary has had her dress for a while and she wanted her flowers to complement the blue accents on her bridal gown.

I found some pretty blue Hydrangea, dark blue Roses, and we added in some white Calla Lilies (these fresh touch Callas are the best!) and tied it off with some silver ribbon. Her bridesmaids will carry a smaller version of Mary's bouquet and the toss bouquet is a simple clutch of blue Hydrangea and white Callas. I left some greenery and added some berries for a fresh from the garden look.

The boutonnieres and corsages in the same high quality silk flowers were a perfect match to the bouquets.

Creating wedding flowers is a special job because it's helping a couple celebrate one of the happiest days of their lives. It's even better when you're doing it for friends! Thanks Jason and Mary for asking me to be a part of such a special day!

Tropical Wedding Reception Back Home

Hearing back from my clients is always such a treat. Take a look at these beautiful photos and read about Caitlyn's story here.

Hey Erin,

It’s been a little while, but I just wanted to let you know that your bouquet was a total hit at my Hawaiian-themed reception back in November. None of the guests had any clue that it wasn’t real, and everyone was amazed with your quality of work (including myself)!

The bouquet is proudly displayed on my mantle now, and it brings me so much happiness every time I look at it. Thank you for bringing that tropical piece of my wedding back to life for me. You’re awesome!

Anniversary around the holidays: The Gift of Bouquet Recreation

I've got a December birthday, thankfully for me it's early enough in the month that I get birthday presents separate from my Christmas presents. My daughter isn't quite as lucky. Her December 19th birthday means extended family celebrations are a mish-mash of holiday and birthday gift giving. At 6, she doesn't mind so much yet. But as her mom, I still have to plan ahead to make some distinction between her birthday and Christmas. If you have an anniversary around a major holiday, you too might be feeling the squeeze of gift giving. How do you make your anniversary gift separate but meaningful?

Jared must have been thinking the same thing because when he contacted me before Christmas, for his January anniversary, he was really planning ahead! He sent me some wedding pictures, we talked through the flowers and I got to work.

As I looked through the photos and talked with Jared about the bouquet itself, more questions came up. Jared was awesome about giving quick feedback and even asked his wife's Grandma what she remembered. He found me a more close up photo which helped even more and I was able to determine that in between the cream roses were purple Delphinium and individual blue silk flowers.

The bouquet itself also had some nice details we wanted to be sure to include. The sprays of pearls were just like the original bouquet. There was also a criss-cross sheer ribbon detail on the handle of the bouquet, over the top of the white satin ribbon. Because of the stems I was working with, I wasn't able to leave as much ribbon showing on the bottom of the handle. Sometimes I have to work with the constraints of the products. But I always work to maintain the overall look of the original floral design. Jared noticed the ribbon detail wasn't quite exact but understood and ultimately approved of the final product.

Here's the original for comparison:

The bouquet turned out beautiful, my wife thought they were so accurate that she asked if I had the original florist make them. Very impressive work for just a few details and pictures. Also the whole process was really quick and I felt involved throughout the whole process from design to finish. Would recommend highly.

Cream, Ivory and White Wedding Flowers

The combination of cream, ivory and white wedding flowers is a much less common choice these days. Just a few years ago, many brides were opting for bold and bright colors. More recently the blush tones are in high demand. So when I get a bride who wants a more traditional color palette, I get excited about the chance to put a new spin on a timeless look.

That's what we did for Katherine's flowers. She sent me some inspiration pictures of cream, ivory and white flowers with some greens and we got started designing!  Take a look at Katherine's lush, garden inspired bouquets in cream, ivory and white flowers.

Here's the bridal bouquet: Roses, Hydrangea, Peonies, Ranunculus, Greens with silver ribbon

For the bridesmaid bouquet, we just paired back the size of the bouquet and didn't include quite as much greenery.

The cute little toss bouquet.

A mother's pin on corsage, a pink Rose boutonniere for the groom to honor his late mother and an ivory rose boutonniere for the rest of the guys.

Dried Bouquet Fail: Silk Wedding Bouquets that Last

Melanie contacted me with something I'm learning is a pretty common problem. Her bridal bouquet didn't dry very well and ended up living in a box since they got married 10 years ago.  Don't let a dried wedding bouquet fail keep you from remembering how beautiful your bridal bouquet really was! With a couple emailed pictures, some details from memory and a few weeks time, you too can have a lasting bridal bouquet recreation in silk flowers from your special day. Take a look at how Melanie's bouquet recreation turned out!

Melanie's bouquet consisted of cream Roses, white Stephanotis and some Rose greens. I finished it off with a simple white satin ribbon with a hint of the stems showing for an almost exact match to her elegant hand tied bouquet.

When planning our wedding ten years ago, I had loved the idea of silk flowers for my bouquet so that I could keep and display them forever. However, the local business I contacted was unable to squeeze our small event in, so I went with real flowers instead. After the wedding, I let the bouquet dry but it didn’t end up looking as nice as I’d hoped. I never displayed it, instead relegating it to a closet.

In January of this year, with our ten year anniversary approaching, I again thought about silk flowers, this time as a way to recreate my bridal bouquet. When I searched online, Love Is Blooming was one of the top results. I looked through Erin’s work and was sold immediately. If she could create such stunning, vivid, and detailed bouquets for other clients, I knew my simple bouquet would turn out perfectly. And it did! Finally, after a decade, I have a bouquet I can display and be proud of.

Erin’s work is beautiful, her prices are reasonable, and she completed my bouquet more quickly than I anticipated. I absolutely would recommend her to others.

Bridal Bouquet Recreation- Treat Yo Self!

Katie emailed me a few weeks ago looking to have her bridal bouquet recreated in silk flowers. What I thought was awesome is that she was hoping to have her silk bouquet in time to celebrate Valentine's Day with her husband. Such a great idea and I love that she bought her bouquet as a Valentine's gift to herself and her husband. Treat yo self, right?

Her unique bouquet was filled with beautiful champagne Roses, blue and white Hydrangea, lime green Button Mums, green Hypericum berries, yellow Heather, Leather Fern, and these awesome twisty glitter twigs. So despite the weather being still cold and white up here in the north, I was able to track down these gorgeous spring/summer flowers and colors and put it all together to help Katie and her husband celebrate Valentine's Day together.

Take a look at her Valentine's bouquet recreation!

I was so in love with everything about my wedding day, my dress, my new husband of course and my flowers. Now after having my beautiful bouquet recreated I can look at those flowers sitting on my table and smile, remembering all the happy memories I have of my special day. They are a perfect match and I couldn’t have asked for a better recreation. Thank you so much!

Destination Wedding Silk Flower Bouquet- Cruise Ship Edition

Well it's still winter here, but I hear that in other parts of the world it's actually pretty warm. Hard to imagine right? Maybe not if you are a Floridian, but fellow Northerners feel my pain.

Well let me give you a little something to inspire you for spring, summer or your next cruise!  LaPriece contacted me over email, then her fiance' contacted me via phone, then we all got on the phone together and had a fun chat about silk flowers for their upcoming cruise ship destination wedding.

LaPriece knew she didn't want a traditional white or ivory bouquet, she was all about adding color, texture and a more modern take on greenery. She had some concerns about how to get the bouquet on the ship in one piece. I told her about some of my other destination wedding couples and methods we've used in the past for transporting flowers and keeping them in tact.

After exchanging a few emails full of inspiration pictures, I came up with an original design for their big day. Take a look at this bright and happy bouquet and matching groom's boutonniere.

SO many beautiful flowers and colors! Ranunculus, Roses, Hydrangea, Snowball bush, Peonies, Queen Anne's Lace, Fern, Freesia and ivory ribbon to tie it all together.

Happily, I have the silk bouquet of my dreams. Thanks to LOVE IS BLOOMING. They worked with me to create a beautiful bouquet. That might actually outstage my fabulous dress. That’s an awesome problem to have. Erin sent plenty of pictures. Had a lot of great ideas and insights. Gave me good advice about packing and shipping. And was always available for my questions. True artistry, many thanks to LOVE IS BLOOMING!
